Top Drawer, 13-15 January 2013, will once again bring together an inspirational showcase of over 800 carefully selected British and international suppliers to the convenient central location of Earls Court, London. Top Drawer showcases the newest product launches, cutting edge designs and must-have products for 2013.
We have teamed up with Top Drawer to give you a sneak peek look at some of the exhibitors that will be showcasing their products this coming January. We have also asked them for tips and advice for other exhibitors taking part.
First up is Red Brick. Established in 2011 by Royal College of Art graduate, Karen Mabon. Her aim is to produce individual yet affordable accessories which capture the eccentricity of everyday life.
Why did you choose Top Drawer to exhibit your products?
I exhibited in Pulse in June last year, which was the first trade show I’d ever participated in, and as Top Drawer is run by the same team so it seemed like a natural progression. Top Drawer has a great reputation in the industry for showcasing really creative designers and original products, and after having a look at the exhibitors on their website, I knew I wanted to be part of it.
What are you most excited about Top Drawer?
I’m working on some ambitious new scarf designs for next season and can’t wait to show them – it’s always so tempting to upload new work on to the internet and get an instant reaction but I’m going to keep them under wraps until Top Drawer! A lot of my business is conducted from behind a computer screen so I’m really looking forward to actually meeting people and discussing the work face-to-face. The accessories are very tactile so it’s really great to give visitors the chance to touch the pieces and try things on in ‘real life’!
Why should people come and hunt down your stand?
I like to think the pieces are a bit different to what’s out there at the moment, and the collection is pretty imaginative – themes range from a robbery in a sweet shop, to a hungry blackbird stealing earthworms, to a boxing match! I have a lot of fun with the work and if people swing by my stand I’m sure there will be something that will make them smile!
What’s your top tip for other sellers who are showcasing their products at the show?
I think be friendly and try to speak to as many people as possible, and with an open mind. As well as buyers and press, Top Drawer is a great place to meet other creative people and potential collaborators.
Thank you Karen. You will find Red Brick at ZH7, be sure to go say hi!
