Top Drawer 2012 – 10 ones to watch

We recently visited the brilliant Top Drawer, which ran from 16-18 September 2012. As always they successfully brought together an inspirational showcase of over 700 carefully selected British and international suppliers to the convenient central location of Olympia, London. Top Drawer showcases the newest product launches, cutting edge designs and must-have products for 2012 – helping retailers to restock and refresh their store for the seasons ahead.

With so many talented creatives on show it is hard to know where to look! We have put together a list of our personal 10 ones to watch for in the coming months. Enjoy!

Monsta Threads – Visit site

The Monsta Threads stand grabbed our attention straight away with their edgy, exciting and original products. They sell a whole variety of goodies from T-Shirts to jewellery, all lovingly illustrated by their wonderful team of illustrators.

Wue. Visit site

Wue had us letting out a lot of “OOOoooos”…..”AHHhhhhhhhs” …which is always a good thing! So many beautiful little trinkets to pick from. Our personal favourites were the Message in a bottle necklace and also the Peanut necklace.

“Wue is run by Tiffany, a self-confessed obsessive compulsive and wedding planner by night who is simply passionate about the greatness of small things and loveliness for value, the fundamental human need to accessorize and the pleasure from beautiful packaging.”

Bianca Jones – Visit site

“Playful, romantic and charming; Bianca Jones’s collections are a feel good affair. Her jewellery is designed to let you tell your own story and cherish the memories of your life.”

Bianca greeted us with a big smile and invited us to look at her beautiful range of jewellery. We especially loved the way she had packaged her necklaces in clever little folded up parcels.

doodlelove – Visit site

The bright bold designs drew us straight into the doodlelove space. Combining paper with personality, with eye-catching, quirky designs featured on greeting cards, limited edition prints and personalised wedding stationery.

Fenella Smith – Visit site

Beautifully illustrated ceramics from Fenella Smith.

“I had rather a bohemian upbringing, full of adventure and silliness. My parents had some extraordinary friends and I have very fond memories of sitting at the top of the stairs, head leant against the banisters, cuddled up to my brothers and the dogs listening to dinner parties and gales of laughter coming from the dining room.

My collections are an evocation of those memories and my wonderful, rather eccentric childhood.”

papierpiraten – Visit site

Fun, bold collection of illustrated cards. We were also shown some wonderful new astrology themed art work. Papierpiraten dream to be stocked all over the world and informed us that they were especially excited to be stocked in Ireland!

Lorna Syson – Visit site

Brilliant use of colour and pattern in the home-ware products by Lorna Syson.

“I love designing and the challenge of making homes and interior spaces more enjoyable to be in. Textiles can really help with reducing echoes in large spaces in homes, offices and public spaces as well as adding warmth and making rooms a more pleasant environment to be in.”

Doodle by Stitch – Visit site

It was a pleasure to chat to the smiley Doodle by Stich duo who told us all about their wonderful products. They are currently going from strength to strength!

“Doodle by Stitch is an exciting concept designed to inject fun and humour into interior design in a stylish, personal and versatile way. Doodle duvet turns a simple cotton duvet cover into a giant sketchbook which comes complete with a set of washout markers so that it can be endlessly customised. Next came the doodle kitchen collection – a graph paper print tablecloth, file paper print adult and child aprons and runaway Christmas bestseller.”

Victoria Eggs – Visit site

Victoria Eggs has a whole array of eye catching products including Tea Towels, Aprons, Oven Mitts, Mugs, Bags, Screen Prints and T-Shirts; all designed to bring a smile to your face. Her Christmas range of home-ware products really stood out to us and sure to be a big seller.

The *Teashed – Visit site

The *TeaShed is a design-led tea company, born and brewed in Britain.

“Our teas are delicious! They are quality whole tea leaves wrapped in silky pyramid bags, which we import from Sri Lanka and then package with some cool designs for you to enjoy.”

Mmmmmmm….gotta love a good cuppa!

The next Top Drawer will run from 13-15 Jan 2013. If you are interested in exhibiting you can find out more information here.
