Mellybee and is Stall 18. Lets find out a little more about them.

How did it all begin?

My dad used to affectionately call me Mellybee as a teenager and so the name has been around for a while. Although I graduated in 2002 it wasn’t until my husband and I moved to Falmouth (having lived in Wales, Hong Kong, Scotland,) in February 2011 and I invested in a screenprinting kit that I really got going with designing and making the quirky Mellybee products I have in the shop today.

What are your all time favourite product you have produced?

As I tend to come up with designs quite quicky and regularly  I find it hard to choose just one all time favourite product- I guess at the moment I’m really happy with my screen-printed Say It cards- they’re simple and bold and do the job effectively!

What is your biggest achievement to date?

Hmm difficult to say – getting the online shop off the ground and also having other shops buy my work has been pretty cool- having people want to buy my work is brilliant!

What’s your best-kept secret?

Having a pen and notepad with me to jot down ideas- who knows where you’ll find your next gem of inspiration!

What is your dreams/plan for the future?

To keep designing and making more products- I always seem to have an idea ticking away and I would love to be in a position where I’ve  managed to build up a range of products that I’m happy with.

Do you have any top tips to help other creative sellers?

Take good photos of your products.

Find a design that works and exploit it – i.e. can I use it on a range of products?

Network with other creative people in person-make friends- this work can be lonely!

Get your work out there- sell your work at fairs/events.

Get networking online- its free and easy to connect with others and is a great avenue to building a following online.
