Hannah Wales is a Furniture and Product Design graduate from Northumbria University.
We recently spotted Hannahs work at The New Designers exhibition in London. This is what she says about her latest project:
“This project was an exploration of the ways in which surface finish can both visually and physically enhance an object. The intention was to explore beyond the fundamentals of finishing processes and material finishes, to look at the semantics of surface finishes.
The use of silicone creates a desirable finish due to its tactile nature. It also enhances the products functionality due to the material’s resistance to heat and water.
Each texture gives the illusion of an existing material but interaction with the products reveal the material to be silicone, provoking a positive sensory response.
The products can be produced in any colour.”
