Interview with Jon Burgerman

Jon Burgerman is a doodling master and it is an absolute pleasure to welcome him to Blog&Buy Sale!!

Hello Jon!

So what was the first thing you ever sold?

I sold some little Fimo sculptures when I was at school. I was probably about 14 years old.
I sold my first ‘proper’ painting when I was 18 at a group show in Birmingham’s Custard Factory gallery.

What is the strangest item you have ever purchased?

I don’t really buy much stuff. I sort of hate having things and clutter etc. I prefer having room and space and less stuff to carry around with me.

Do you have a collection of anything?

Ha, not really. The only thing I really collect are digital photos of food / meals I’ve made or eaten.

Is there anything you have sold and then regretted?!

I think I always felt a pang of sadness when I first started to sell my work, especially original pieces but since I’ve started believing that owning stuff for the sake of it isn’t that important I don’t feel like that anymore. I’m really happy to know that someone out there is looking after something I’ve sold and it’s making them happy. That’s enough for me, I don’t need an archive of my work. I am my own walking archive, in my thoughts and memories.

Any advice you would give to people selling things online?

Take good photos of the things!
